The Winds could present a problem with snowpack. YOu could however go up to 
the Divide Basin, hike south from there to the Co-NM border and then proceed 
north. I know a few people who had success that way.

As far as transportation every scenario is different. YOu may be able to 
find a deal on a rental car depending on where you are going. Otherwise you 
may have to use a combination.

Just curious, do you plan on using (carrying) all the guides, Wolf, 
Westcliffe, maps etc.?
