        The Harper's Ferry to Pen Mar, PA stretch of the AT is real close to
Frederick.  I did that bit (it's about 40 miles), just after graduation.  I
don't know about the other trails, but I don't think we were every more than
40 minutes drive from home on that whole hike.  Hope this helps.
