I don't have a whole lot to say on this topic, I've never had any
conflicts really, the SOs I've been with have been very understanding and
being in school, I rarely get to take long trips anyway.
A perspective from another side is that I had planned a long backpacking
trip(s) with a friend (female), we were going to spend a month or two
backpacking in the southwest. Her boyfriend (admittedly the possesive
type) was not happy at all about her sharing a tent with some guy for
such a lengthy time.
A perspective I hadn't thought of,
