[at-l] Nobo

A few days ago I posted that my Manager was off for a few days to see his
daughter off a Springer. She began her attempt yesterday (Wednesday the 17th
of March 2004) around noon. There were only eight starts that morning that
signed in.

I had discusssed this moment with my Manager at some length and although not
a long distance hiker, he is of my generation and had owned and run a
private hunting preserve in the Norht Carolina mountains not far from
Springer. He arrived Tuesday night and made both his daughter and her friend
empty their packs so that he could "Tuckerize" them. They both went form
over to fifty five pounds down to forty two or three, including water, which
isn't bad for most starters. I am certain they will both be ditching more
stuff at Neal's Gap even so.

He also insisted that the dog carry its own food...

So, if everyone and anyone would be so kind, please keep an eye out for one
Carrie Melear accompanied by an (also) female companion and a dog of
indetermimate gender. I expect they will probably make Neal's Gap tomorrow
evening or the next day sometime. If anyone hears from them or of them
please let me know via the list or directly at my email address l_parker@
cacaphony.net.

Once I knew where I was going, but now I have forgotten. Sometimes my mind
wanders. Sometimes it goes alone, and other times it takes me along...this
isn't one of those times...
