I used my MSR Pocket Rocket (3 oz, $40) with the 12 oz Iso/Pro fuel bottle=
(4 oz empty + 8 oz fuel). It lasted me 45 days last summer, before I had t=
o get a new one. There was still some fuel in it when I got the new one. =
(I'm saving the old one for weekend trips) I was cooking only one meal a d=
ay, mostly Raman noodles. I mailed my new bottle to myself. This is actua=
lly illegal, but I protected it good by wrapping it in bubble wrap and plac=
ing it in the middle of a large box. It's already in a strong steel can, a=
nd has no moving parts. Leaks are unheard of. To be legal, you would have=
to mark it hazardous and pay a premium.
Bottom line, it is not easy to get propane/Isobutane on the trail. Best to=
mail it to yourself.
