[at-l] Re: New Tent

Several have written me and asked what kind of tent I got so I'm going to reply to the list. It's a Black Diamond Megamid, but not the one they sell yet. Their tent designer sent me a prototype of their Silnylon version and I will give him feedback in return. He also sent me a gadget that hooks my hiking poles together to use for the tent poles. The Megamid has no floor, but I will use my poncho for the ground cloth. The pole is in the center of the pole, but my husband and I can sleep on one side of the pole. That leaves the other side for gear and stuff. When I take my nephews to Standing Indian, they will also share a tent with me. Since they're 9 and 10 (almost) I will have to carry a bulk of the weight so I needed a very lightweight tent that would sleep at least three. I still have to seal the seams, but I will coat it sparingly with Silnet so I don't add much to the weight. I've also ordered titanium tent stakes (the ultralite version) to use. To complete my lightweight hike this year I'm switching to 804's and running socks. I've never been brave enough to make the switch so I'll let you know how it goes. Gail
