I've had infected ingrown toenail & surgery. Sloetoe's saga of his
first thru-hike is  the most effective emetic and appetite suppressant
known to man. Typically, the pain depends on how infected the toe has
become, and how effective the doc is in the grabbing and removing the
nail. You probably want someone else to drive on the way home. Find out
what analgesic will be prescribed, and alert your pharmacist to have it
ready at the drive thru. It will feel better pretty quickly after the
event, but first few days will make RnR seem like a gentleman.
