Re: [at-l] Boiling Springs

Well..I shoulda known! Leave it to Wildbill!!!!!

The Highland House's phone is disconnected
The Garmanhaus doesn't respond to messages so either
of them could be the subject of Mara's post.

Yellow Breeches House wants 90 to 175.00 for a
double..yikes!

But....May I introduce you to

http://gelinasmanor.tripod.com/index.html

Gelinas Manor Victorian Bed and Breakfast
and in particular Mr Lee Gelinas who is a new
friend of the Trail!!! A charming and funny man of some
8 decades, he welcomes hikers..even if (as happened last
nite) they show up near ten o'clock in a driving rainstorm!!

Yes, boys and girls, 4 hikers, trailnames unknown, one with
a
rather scruffy beard, rang the Manor's bell waaay late and
were welcomed and given a 20%+ discount as well! As Lee
said.."One look and you could tell they REALLY NEEDED a
place to stay. Despite our scruffy appearance and our
stinkiness and
some earlier trouble with some young hikers who made
themselves
a pain by leaving food trash in their room and the bath, Mr
Gelinas
welcomes hikers and as I said offers a discount.

email him at GelinasManor@aol.com

A bonus....his son does shuttles from Harper's to Port
Clinton too!
He has email and a waay cool email
addie...atshuttler@aol.com
(I think...just double checking that)

Mr Gelinas is a charmer and already has some great trail
tales.
Like the newbee who took a train to Harrisburg, a bus to
Carlisle
and then a taxi to Boiling Springs and to the Manor. In he
comes
complete with all new gear, with plans to start his hike in
the
AM. As morning dawns, the newbie is much upset by the
driving rain.
"I don't want to start my hike in this" he says. "Can I stay
another
night?" And stay he did, only to be greeted by another
sodden
morn. One more night at the Manor <g>. On the third day he
came down from his room....his face even gloomier than the
sky
which was again dumping. "Can I get a ride to the train
station?"

Bummer...but as Mr Gelinas was quick to point out, he
probably
saved his feet a real beating 'cause the boots were brand
new too!

I'll be stopping in to see the Gelinas's in the next week or
so
and will tell ya'll more. I'm dying to check out his train
setup
...no kidding...check out the website!!!

So once again....my hero.....the master of allll things
webbie..
comes thru in the pinch. Thank you Wildbill!!!!!
