I think the newer updated version of "yellow blazer" is reserved for hitch
hiking up the trail. Road walks could be considered doing old AT or
possibly blue blazing.

On one of these such ventures through an old neighborhood in Vermont,
following faded white blazes, I got to speak with a lady mowing her lawn.
She told me a story of when Grandma Gatewood stopped at her house in a rain
and how her mother invited her in to dry off, have a warm dinner and stay the
evening, drying her wet Keds in the oven. She also told me about Grandma's
watch being broken and that the mother gave her the watch left by her
deceased sister (aunt).

She said how she missed the thru-hikers coming by each summer and I don't
suppose I would have ever heard her story on new trail proper.
