RE: [at-l] Billing for rescuing idiots. . . .



Perhaps one way to deter the novice hikers from getting in over their
head, and perhaps save some lives, would be to laminate, frame, and post
at trailheads the first newspaper articles that detail the amount billed
to the first careless or unprepared hiker who is rescued and found
liable for the costs. I bet a lot of folk who would ignore a sign
warning of hypothermic death would take seriously a real-world example
of financial ruin....
