Vasque does not wish for messages to be left in registers and read by
possibly thousands of hikers denigrating their vastly overpriced boots.
They opt, instead, to replace a couple of hundred pairs of boots per year,
with not many questions asked, and reap the benefits of hikers singing their
praises in the registers. Plus, a pair of boots cost Vasques less than ten
bucks and they sell them retail for $160 or so on average. That is the rest
of the story.
