[at-l] solo hiking

Hello all, I would like to hear from those of you out there who do alot of solo hiking. My kids are grown and on their own so I am now doing much more of my hiking solo than I ever have before and liking it. I realize that thruhiking many people are solo. But the comaraderie on the AT would allow you to almost never hike solo if that was your choice, depending on start date northbound, southbound etc. That aside my question is are there any special precautions you would take because you are solo that you otherwise would not do? I know I am more careful so as not to sprain an ankle or knee, but what are some of the special considerations. Do you have any? Are there items you would or would not bring with you because it is a solo hike??I did buy a lighter tent and will be overall packing lighter than before.Going solo also eliminates some conflict like how many miles a day, should we tent or shelter, take a day off etc. Any thoughts??
