I wonder if he was  the same turkey hunter I met in 1988, and Jim met in
1992?  An old man, raised at the foot of the Smokies? I think he had
lost his land to the park service - sounded like one of the Waltons. I
saw him early one morning, and was sure that it was some local who hated
the trail and hikers because of the eminent domain fiascos - turned out
he was just a very friendly man who wanted to talk. I don't know about
turkeys, but he bagged at least five hikers that day.
