Actually, it is an AOL thing solely, although you can use it through Netscape
and Microsoft Internet Explorer, or any other internet connection. Those of
us on AOL had long enjoyed the Instant message capability between members.
One day someone said - gee, wouldn't it be nice to chat with so and so too,
only he is not on AOL. IRC is too complicated for some people. So what do
you know? They now offer IM to anyone, for free, just so their own AOL
members can happily chat with everyone they want, putting a major dent in work
productivity around the world :) It is a complete side benefit that you can
use IM to talk to anyone <g> regardless of whether or not they are on AOL. So
now lots of folks who would never dream of having AOL as a provider are
benefitting from IM (although their bosses are not LOL). It can be downloaded
free from the www.aol.com site. So download today <g> and join us in bashing
our alt-tab buttons to avoid being caught <g>.
