BDU pants are excellent hiking attire, just a little hot in the summer,
the rip stop pant isn't as hot. But remember most are cotton and that's
not the best wet (cold) weather  fabric. But I like 'em and wear them
weather permitting. I also like the low visual impact  camo has. I've
worn them on 100+ milers but can't help you with thru-hike info.
