     as i recall, rusty asked dan not to include him in this year's book. 
     as you mentioned, there have been conflicting reports regarding the 
     "welcome mat" for thru-hikers. i guess there had been a problem where 
     rusty was concerned about losing his liquor license. i don't remember 
     all the details, but that was the just of it.
