Ditto for the Interstate Highway system, right?

Of course, if you go far enough back, it all belonged to the American
Indians and was originally stolen from them.  Back then such niceties as
eminent domain proceedings were seldom used; the predominate practice was
to simply exterminate the original inhabitants. 

Somewhere there's an unmarked intersection of the AT and the Trail of
Tears...
