N Departure Dates

Hi all,

Just a few questions from a California Dreamin' type gal.  For those of you
leaving Springer in March, what are the advantages or disadvantages?  It
seems to me from reading the trail journals that there's lots of snow, and
the trails are in pretty bad shape, leading to slower daily mileage and a
greater chance of falling. How does leaving say, March 1, compare with
leaving later, say in mid-April or early May?
