I took a dog on the southern part of the Long Trail, and he had a fierce run-in with a porcupine (they seem to be common there)! Otherwise, no problems. Fortunately, there was a vet. clinic in a nearby town, and I got the needles extracted several days later, for a large fee. Good Luck! jeff
