[at-l] Piece of silnylon?

My orange silnylon pack cover has a tear in it, right on the top.  Can I 
sew it shut and put sil-net on it the repair?  If so, do I need any special 
thread? 

If that's not a good way to do it, and I need to patch it, anyone have a 
2-inch x 5-inch piece of silnylon (preferably orange) they can give me?
