[at-l] Section Hike Logistics

Me too.

I enjoy evenings at shelters with good company, nearly as much as I enjoy
evening alone (most often tenting). However, enjoy evening alone under the
stars in just a sleeping bag on a clear night, even more.

My message was just responding to a post where someone opined about the most
practical way to slackpack all day and stayed in motels at nights.

A few years ago I met a couple who did the hike-south-while-moving-north
routine, which I described. It's the only way, which I know of, the avoid
backtracking and/or repositioning vehicles. The simplicity of it is elegant,
but I don't think I would have come up with it, on my own. In my mind set, if
you are going north, you hike north -- duh.

Speaking of slackpacking, last year I met a couple who were day-hiking the
entire AT, as best I remember only one other person (couple?) has done it, to
date.

As always HYOH.

Me, I love being in the woods and being
prepared to stay for few nights. I enjoy
evenings at shelters with good company.
