Life sure gets exciting in Northern New England. Terri, my neighbor
walked to our house after just returning from the hospital from
surgery. She was excited. Her Boyfriend, David, was calling from
the back pond. His dog had fallen through the ice about 25 ft away
from shore. David was trying to save the dog when he went in up to
his neck in ice and water. He managed to get himself out but was
still trying to save the dog when I arrived. I found a paddle boat
behind a neighbors barn and dragged it through the swamp and
blueberry bushes toward the pond. David saw what I was doing and
came to help me. We finally got the boat onto the ice. We broke
through the ice and tried to paddle the boat but the ice was getting
in the way. In the process of getting into the boat I went through
the ice up to my waist. I grabbe a large limb that had fallen from a
nearby tree and used it to crack the ice and push the paddle boat.
In the mean time my wife called 911. Jusdt as the rescue team
arrived we got to the dog. David managed to grab his dog as the
firemen threw us a recue line. I grabbed the line and we were pulled
back to shore. David's hads were cut a bit from the ice. I was
mostly wet. The dog was cold and wet but now is doing fine.

I went skiing the day before at Gunstock and could see Mt Washington
from the top of the ski lift. It was employee ski day. Ski season
is officially over a Gunstock. You could see that the snow is
melting on top of Mt Washington but there is still plenty up there.
