When I headed south in 1993, I figured Georgia in April would be like Miami in January. I was wrong. It was just like the coast of Maine in April. Freezing nights, blustery winds, occasional snow, generally cold!, mixed in with some beautiful balmy days, and beautiful early flowers. I was rescued by the down jacket I tossed into my pack at the last minute.
