Sounds to me like one of the worst kinds of regulations, the unenforceable
ones. Never make a regulation that you can't enforce. And if by some strange
twist you do get caught, you can fall back on the unanswerable. Just point
out that the sign didn't say: "THIS MEANS YOU!"

--I'm curious to know what the NPS would do if they 'caught' someone
--camping in a campground after it was closed. And, what about
--riding 'til
--I don't want to ride no more, then taking my bike down one of
--those many
--gated fire roads, out of sight, and camping there? Here is an
--e-mail I
--got from the NPS this a.m:
--
--Camping is allowed in the US National Forests at
--"undesignated sites", but there is no camping allowed on
--Parkway lands after the campgrounds have closed in November.
--In a number of areas, the Forest Service boundary is only a
--couple of hundred feet off of the Parkway.
--
--
--Does that mean that there ARE places I can carry my bike a couple of
--hundred feet and camp? Which boundary is he talking about? The one
--entering or exiting the NF??
