A year ago... 6/01/03 
We started at the Jim and Molly Denton shelter, after a long night of  
partying. Our trail angel Gary showed  up the night before with coke, beer, 
strawberries, and some Bourbon (George Dickle). Before the night  was over, we drank 
almost 3 cases of beer (there were a lot of us). What a great crew at that 
shelter. It?s amazing how you can meet people for a few  hours one night and miss 
them when they leave.  
At the shelter: 
Dutch  Tulip & her friend (It was his birthday), Janet, Queen Bee and Drone, 
Mule,  Paparazzi, Siesta, Randy, Gary, Wench, Hotdog, Jason & Alicia (Married 
for 5  months).  
Wench and I hiked out 1 mile to a local road and Gary picked us up in his  
truck to go re-supply. Well, we  resupplied, then hung out talking to Gary, 
drinking coffee & eating home  made donuts until 1PM. The rest of  the day was 
nice trails, meadows, nice woods, long down hills... 18 miles of  them after 1PM. 
Tomorrow, the  roller coaster, the next day we hike into Harpers Ferry and 
take a rest  day!!!! Almost 1000 miles  hiked, already lost 40 pounds... Life is 
 good.
