A wise thruhiker (me) sent his winter gear home in Waynesboro VA.
A wiser one (wench), kept her winter bag a little longer.
When you are tempted, and send your winter gear home, maybe hold on to
your winter bag a bit longer. And don't listen to the weather guys, they
predicted
warm weather that week (and it was 40 at night).
It really depends on when you start. The earlier you start (I started 3/1),
the later you send your winter gear home. But you MUST get your winter gear
back by Glencliff NH (last place before you go above tree line on Mt
Moosilauke).
I stayed at a shelter on Moosilauke, and needed my winter bag there.
