[at-l] Re: Weight Loss

Eek! Is this typical? One of my (many) reasons for doing a thruhike is
weight loss and I will be working to keep off what I lose.

I don't know if this is typical, but I think I can be fair in saying that weight loss/gain varies greatly from males to females, and between individuals. I was one of those freaks that actually *gained* weight on the Trail. Coming back, I maintained the same weight through moderate exercise and not allowing myself to do AYCE-Ben-and-Jerry fests anymore. (I am noticing, though, that I am slowly replacing my built-up thigh and calf muscles with extra "padding" on my hips... sniff. Hopefully, it'll provide some good cushioning for that backpack, though!.)

I ran into the same issue LiteShoe did - my knees didn't like me while running. So, I joined a gym and do the (cheesy) elliptical runner to save those joints. Good alternative to those with complaining cartilage.
