OT follow-up (was) RE: [at-l]NOT OT: Banned Books Week

I somehow have deleted the other email, but my point was this.

IMHO, we are on the verge of/losing on a daily basis freedoms to be openly dissenting, or at the very least express an opinion different from others freely. I have seen lately that people look down upon that and give you that "If you are not with us you must be a traitor" look. I have a very very good friend who is a Die Hard Democrat. He shares the same opinion. I feel it, and so do others.

We are who we are because of our inalienable human rights and freedoms. And we better come to a good balancing act or we won't be who we are anymore. I am in favor of stoppign terrorism, it scares me to death.

But at what price? Becoming a nation other than what we are is a price too steep.

No one is saying that you can't express your opinions but we don't have to like them. And if we don't then we are free to express our opinions in reply. You liberals want to be able to blather on and never have anyone point out that you make no sense. Your idea of freedom is expression is one way, you talk and everyone listens in silence. That's one reason that liberal talk shows never succeed.

Oh you can say anything you want. Bu, say for example I write in an email or say on the phone something like "I hate George Bush" you can bet your bottom dollar someone's watching and listening and a red flag is going up somewhere and there will be a file created and so on and so forth. And for the record, I don't like George Bush very much at all, but I do like ice cream I used to like Felix, but he doesn't write inny more. And Curtis moved to Nashville and can't help me "do" NYC. I'm gonna go eat fried worms.
