[at-l] Birdsong CDs

That sounds like it. Three discs is a bit much to digest,

That was my concern--there's another one I found that's only 1 CD/tape. This is not for me, btw, but for my mother--I don't know how in-depth she needs/wants it to go.

What I've ended up doing more often than not is returning from a trip and
identifying the unknown call I heard... and that works out pretty good.

You must be better at remembering & filtering out other noise intrusions than I am (not difficult) because I think I'd have to capture the bird, bring it home with me, set it down with a command to: Sing! (like a bird, you dirty rat, you--sorry, I digress) while listening to the recording.

I'm even pretty sure I heard a Yellow Throated Warbler on my Finger Lakes
hike...

  Cool.

BTW, that last disc that links the birds to their habitat is really good -
I don't have to remember the call so much as where I heard it.

Shoot. I thought you'd convinced me to get the other (1 disc) recording. But this sounds like something I'd like, even if not useful to its intended recipient.

If you're dedicated enough to actually sit and study the calls, or even
stick them in your car CD player so that you hear them over and over during
your commute, you'll pick the calls up a lot faster than I'm doing.

Well, I don't have a car CD player, my commute is so short I'd never get to finish it, and my memory for this kind of thing is really bad, so I doubt it, but it sounds like a good idea for those who are less challenged in the above regards... ;) Thanks for describing this set so thoroughly-
