Think about it.  

It's not so much "speed" records as endurance records.  On this 300 mile 
"trail" he's going to take about a week, divided by let's say 6 days is 50 miles a 
day, divided by 22 hours (per day) is 2.27 miles per hour.  That's slower 
then some thru-hikers I know.

Must be an insomniac!  hahaha
