Of course. I just think all this agonizing over whether to do an extra six mile
approach is meaningless in terms of a 2,000 plus mile hike. Yes, one has to
backtrack on some side trails to shelters and scenic overlooks. But it never
once occurred to me to backtrack on those side trails that involved a loop back
to the AT. I figured they were put there to augment the hiker experience, not to
diminish it.
