At least 90 percent of bear "hunting" in Maine consists of:

 1. Erecting a tree stand.

 2. Depositing donuts at base of tree.

 3. Sitting in tree stand.

 4. Shooting bears that come to eat donuts.

 It used to be even easier. We just shot the bears when they came to scavenge at
 open dumps. Now we bury or burn our municipal trash, forcing hunters to carry
 around portable dumps.
