My first advice to you would be...leave the dog at
home.

My second thought would be NEVER suppose for one
moment that your dog will sleep in the shelter with
you.  Carry a tent and let the dog sleep in YOUR tent
if you have to have him near.

There was a thread on here not to long ago that
someone posted about good ettiquete when hiking with a
dog.  Could the one who did that post it again.  It
was VERY good.
