[at-l] Vest vs. Jacket and Down vs. Synthetic

You haven't mentioned the most important outer layer to your warmth - a
hat, balakava or similar gear. If you have a very good sleeping bag, you
can always hole up in a shelter until weather improves.

I'd not go out without a balakava with stocking or fleece cap. Thin
capilene top, two thin fleece/wool shirts, fleece vest and a jacket are a
good start, keeping something else in case you get wet. Pants aren't nearly
as important a source for heat loss, but a pair of rain pants can help
supplement camp clothing for warmth.

Have you spent some time outside in the cold with your current clothing
choices - especially an overnight test?
