[at-l] Windproof Fleece

I swear by my Marmot Windshirt. It is light, warm,
breathable, windproof and water resistant. Packs very
small. Have used it from everything from backcountry
winter acivities in Colorado to my PCT thru this past
year. Have been in snow storms with it, downpours and
chilly mornings. It is very versatile piece of gear.
The caveat is that is it NOT something you wear
sitting around in camp. I would say you would not want
to wear it in camp if it drops below say 35F. ( But
throw a hat on, and the comfort range is extended.) It
is meant for at least moderate activity. Which is fine
for my hiking style. If I am cold in camp, it is
probably dark and time to get into my sleeping bag.
In other words, it is a good piece of gear for a
thru-hike. I do not pack a down coat on long hikes
because when hiking I get too hot and my down sleeping
bag is warmer than a down coat...

When I am going on "lets sit around camp for a while"
type of trips I bring my fleece. And since it is
November and it snowed last year in Utah, I am
bringing my down coat for my trip this weekend. Here's
hoping the camp fire will not have dung chips in it
like last year.. :-)
