I enjoyed most of Thoreau, but even in Walden he is insufferably arrogant.
I think the worst example of this is IN Walden, where he derides his
neighbor lifestyle, goes into detail about how he built his cabin - with
tools he borrowed from the neighbor...
(If that's not quite right, forgive me. It's something like that, but I
haven't read Walden in about eight years...)
