Welcome aboard!

NW CT? You've got it made, from the AT virtually anywhere in Mass or
southern Vt. There's also the Taconic Crest Trail system, and a whole lot
of side trails in the Mt Greylock area.
You might want to start with "50 Hikes in Western Massachusetts", your
local bookstore or outfitter should have it, while you're there pick up the
AT guide for Mass/Ct, since that will also cover the side trails on Mt
Greylock...
