I am remembering something I read long ago which has stuck with me. Privacy is a state of mind and sometimes everyone has to play by the rules to maintain the illusion. Image being on a sailboat in a small cabin. When someone goes in the bathroom, head in this case, if they drop out of the conversation it feels much more private. They don't talk and no one talks to them even though they could easily be heard. The illusion of privacy is all you need.
