[at-l] How much cash to carry?

Sage advice. In a safety training course a couple of years ago, the
instructor told everybody (men and women) that they should get and carry a
cheap money clip with a five dollar bill on the outside and five one dollar
bills in it. If confronted, throw the clip with the money one way and run
the opposite direction. 99 + percent of the time the person will follow the
money. Reason to clip it is so you can feel it in your pocket and throw the
right batch of money.

### Judge the mental state of the low life first. If he/she is
exceptionally nervous, you really want to talk calmly to them, tell them
that everything is OK and that you are going to give them the money. Move
slowly. Act bored. If the perp is very nervous, you are in real danger, as
most nervous crooks will shoot you by accident - and to simply take off
running isn't advised.

### Of course, if the crook is a pro, then what you said works every time.

### I would encourage everyone to read The Seven Steps to Personal Safety,
which is written by a good friend of mine.
The Seven Steps to Personal Safety is widely regarded as the
leading book on dealing with violence. He's nice enough to offer it for free
to those who know the link. You can get the whole book by clicking here:
