I my opinon silmple is better. I have a pair of leki (LL Bean) poles
w/out the shocks and i like them. THey get small enough to strap to the
pack and not get in the way and big enough to support my tarp and sit up
under. I just feel that the more gagits you put in something the more
chances it has to brake.
