Excellent advice.  Plus, it's easy to get overdosed on any 
one "formulation."  Tastes change over the course of 
days and weeks on the trail.  And in any case, peanut 
M&Ms are best consumed straight up.

I heartily recommend dried fruit of all types... many decent 
supermarkets have it in bulk bins now.  Dried pineapple 
is great for its sugar/calorie content.  Dried mangoes are 
heavenly, but pricey.  (Keep them as a "special treat.")  
Figs and dates are good.  Prunes are useful too. <g>

Consider also adding sesame sticks/chips to the mix -- 
good for protein, and tasty.
