[at-l] RE: The ethics of snoring......

I met a guy with this problem in SW VA this last spring. He had a machine
hooked up to batteries in his van and would sleep in the van then hike out
on the AT and back to the van at nite. He was desperately trying to find
something to make the batteries needed be lighter so he could actually hike
in and spend the nite in the woods. He could either carry the batteries &
machine or gear - not both.

evidently his was so severe his doctors told him he couldn't be w/o the
machine. He had the AT bug bad as well - it was hard to see his frustration
at being denied his dream due to this problem.

Cheerio

He has since seen a doctor and uses a CPAP(?) machine at night (which I
found
out THIS ski trip, works wonderfully!). What would a sleep apnea sufferer,
like my brother, do on the trail? Just take a chance and forget about it?
