[at-l] still more maildrop stuff

Sly -

Excellent points. I did not mean to imply we should ignore the trail towns.
I enjoy getting my hiking done in large doses and spending money in town
before and after. I've pumped lots of money into Franklin and Murphy and
Asheville and numerous other towns in the area spending the night, buying
huge post-trail meals and beer (which I typically drink in my room while
attempting to move my body as little as possible). I just don't do that
stuff in the middle of my hikes, typically.

On the side trail miles, I do them on occasion. But I typically find nice
views and plenty of challenges moving north and south on the trail itself.
As always, YMMV. And I meet lots of nice folks right there on the trail.
