[at-l] Thru-Hike Questions??

Two questions i could use some quidence on:

  1)  I heard that one cannot expect a new pair of hiking shoes to last
      an entire thru-hike withouit needeing to be resoled? True Y/N. I
      have a new pair of Vasque solid leather boots. If they need to be
      resoled what are my best options???

 2) Any insight on the Black Fly situation in the White Mountains. I
    have read and heard horrendus stories about them. We will be up
    there around late July-Aug?
