[at-l] Computer Question

Actually my typing teacher never refered to what I did in her class as
typing. When speaking to me her sentences usually contained the words
'hunt' and 'peck' and "quit looking at the keys". Another in a long string
of failing grades. I did however, Ace Science Fiction and Marine Biology.
For a guy who spent his entire high school career either wrapped around the
works of Clarke, Asimov, EE Smith, etal, or in fifty feet of water with a
mask fins and snorkel, (another Clarke realm) I couldn't believe my eyes
when the list of available classes for my Senior year came out. Like
taking candy from a baby I thought. Too true. Those two aces managed to
bring my total overall GPA up to an underwhelming 1.4 or something in that
neighborhood . Hmmmm trail related....................hmmmmmmmmmm. Okay,
got it. I should have replaced my Junior year with a thru hike.

Did you learn to type on a typewriter rather than a computer? I did, and
for the longest time I would force a carriage return rather than allowing
the word wrap function to do it's job. Took me years to get out of the
habit. I the meantime my paragraphs did the same thing.

FWIW

Does anyone more computer-literate than me know why my paragraphs "chunk
up" like this:

> I do think that part of why I am hiking lately IS seeking some kind
> of
> connection with Something Larger. I don't particularly want that

It seems like the 'puter thinks the sentence is one word too long, and
drops it onto the next line. Does anyone know how to get it to close up
all neat-like?

Thanks,
Jan
