[at-l] GA RUCK plans 1/18-20/02

I have finalized (as much as can be done) our plans for the Georgia RUCK at 
Amicalola State Park near Dawsonville, GA, and the beginning of the access 
trail to the AT. We will arrive Friday January 18, 2002 and depart Sunday 
January 20. There are rooms in the Lodge, cabins for rent, campsites and 
space for RV's. Dogs are not allowed.

The numbers for reservations (strongly encouraged ASAP) 1-800-864-7275 or 
770-389-7275 . 706-265-8888 is a local number for the Lodge. 706/265-4703 
will get you information about the Amicalola State Park.

This _is_not_ the Len Foote Hike Inn.

The park reservations indicate that this will be a popular weekend for 
folks to get away, especially as it is a 3 day weekend for many (MLK 
holiday is Monday Jan 21). I would like someone to reserve a 2 or 3 bedroom 
cabin which will be near the top of the hill. This will be the obvious 
meeting/breakfast place. I have not reserved picnic or other shelters, 
although this may be a good idea pending demonstrations of stoves and such. 
There is some room in the Lodge for gathering and visiting, although I've 
not made the financial commitment toward renting a conference room and such.

This is a week before the PA RUCK, just in case anyone feels the need to 
become a serial RUCKer.

So, if you are interested in RUCK in the Southland this January, now is the 
time to get reservations in. Please feel free to distribute this to other 
interested hiking organizations.
