[at-l] lister bios

Well, here's my info:
My real name is Nancy Lucas, I'm 39, and I live in Hagerstown, MD with
my "lister" hubby, Daryl AKA Fur or FurTrappers for the last 19 years.
I was brought up in the same house my folks still live in. The youngest
of 4, yep I was spoiled! During high school years, I was heavy into the
music program, played oboe, flute, & sax, and was a soloist in the
choir. I was yearbook editor and a long distance runner, and graduated
9th in my class. While in 9th grade, I met this cute guy on my track
team. He was in 10th grade and pestered me till I went out with him. We
broke up alot, because we both have strong opinions on
everything......usually opposite from each other. Even though I was
offered a scholarship for Music, I decided to not spend 4 more years in
school, but plan on.....you guessed it....marriage. I went to beauty
school instead, and 9 months later became a hair dresser. I went to work
for JCPenney Salon, because they had guaranteed salary. We married in
1982, and started a party life. We survived it though, and settled down
in 1986 when our first daughter was born. I later accepted a Management
position in the JCP company, made more money, learned alot in their
Management programs, had 2 more daughters, and then a few years later
quit my job! They wanted more of me, but my family NEEDED more of me. I
began Substitute Teaching in 1995, and am still doing that. I work when
it suits me, AND when the kids are off school, so am I. Our family went
through an abrupt change in 1997, when Fur became very ill. After months
of testing, we were told he has Lyme Disease. They aggressively treated
him with IV therapy that helped a little, but since there had been a
year between the tick and the treatment, it is in a chronic stage that
is not likely reversible. He is medically disabled, and money became
very tight, and the great American Dream we had been living crumbled.
One thing Fur taught me from the time we started dating was a love for
adventure and the outdoors. His dreams seem so difficult to realize now,
but he started searching the net for info on the AT. It led to an
obsession, and an all out effort to give it a try. We began weekend
hikes together, and I found myself intrigued by this backpacking thing
too. I was prepared to assist him in a thru this year, but due to his
health, he had to return home after 30 miles. He has been very ill since
then, but the hiking passion lives on in both of us. Most recently, I am
a taxi driver for my kids, 1 in high school band and guard, 1 in middle
school soccer, and 1 in a traveling soccer league for under 12 year
olds. I also am singer/ musician for our Church's Contemporary Worship
services, and work with the Church youth group. I also dabble in selling
crafts and merchandise on the internet for extra $$. I Love my family, I
love the outdoors, and I love this list!
Landslide (btw, this name is from my favorite song by Stevie Nicks)
