I visited the Glencliff (NH) hiker hostel on Sat and looked for
hikers. Hungry & Thirsty are doing a section from Hanover to Maine.
Sooner Zooman has traveled from Manchester Center and is going to
Katahdin, his third big sectionhike. All were resting a day before
their climb of Moosilauke.
The hostel looks better and better every year! Lots of landscaping
done since last year, a new fire ring, and a signin/charge system
that I don't remember from last year. A volunteer was painting a sign
with pictures of hikers & cyclists to help advertise the place.
Down the road a little I noticed, on Rt 118, that Applewood Farm
appears to be for sale. This was an experiment in group living when I
visited in '98. In '99 they created an organic farmstand, and last
year were also selling baked goods, including bread. I thought they
were doing well. Anyone else know about them? Mara?
