[pct-l] Trail Update & gettinoutahere!

Walt and Ron arrived in Big Bear this afternoon, a day ahead of schedule.  
They did 20+ miles yesterday -- Left Mission Creek Hostel and got within 6 
miles of Big Bear last night!  The jeep trail out of Idyllwild had been 
plowed so the snow wasn't that bad.  Some hikers were even able to go up the 
Deer Springs Trail and over Fuller Ridge, but they still needed ice axes.

The guys had a great time with Randy and Brad at the Mission Creek Hostel. 
Randy said this year may end up being their last.  He had been granted 
easment or something for the hostel by the university but because land was 
selling for a good price to the Land Management (I believe) the university 
may sell the land and not honor their easment agreement. Walt said Randy has 
installed a HOT TUB!  Lordy, Lordy how decidant, I am truely sorry not to 
have been there this summer, although I enjoyed soaking my aching feet last 
year in his foot massager!

I am renting a car for a week and will try to help as many hikers out as we 
can along the way. We are already going to deliver some boxes past 
Wrightwood for a couple of hikers so they don't have to go down the Acorn 
Trail.  

Hope to see some of you in Agua Dulce for the Trail Days festivities.  Have 
a great summer -- I am signing off until September 19th.
