At risk of "preaching to the choir", I'd like to bring to readers'
attention a recent essay in the Feb 28, 1998, issue of Science Magazine. It's
titled, "Gardenification of Wildland Nature and the Human Footprint", and can
be found at:
www.sciencemag.org.
The essay by Daniel Jansen, one of a series on Science and Society,
suggests a change of mindset about wilderness areas which could help ensure
their preser- vation into the furure. Interesting reading.
